Can we agree to not underestimate our value? And today, I’m telling you exactly where to start! Drumroll, please… Your network is your net worth. We’re talking about cold and hot leads, ladies and gentlemen.

Check out all of your social networks

That’s right, all of them: Linkedin, Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, …. Scroll down that list of followers and connections and think about who could be your next client. Start adding them to your mailing list (with permission, of course).

Back to business: Going through your social networks will make you realize how many connections you already have. Think of previous clients, ex-colleagues or even old business partners.

When I was launching my different businesses throughout the years, I gathered a list of potential clients for my new business. And low and behold: there was an old business contact that wanted to work with me. Being visible and showing what you are doing will make people eager to work with you.

You can see it as an iceberg: The tip represents your warm leads, yet there is a whole mountain of cold leads waiting for you under the water.

Create a lead tracker

I personally use Air Table. But Google docs will do the trick as well. A lead tracker will help you remember the conversations you had throughout the months. It’s a way to help you remember every lead and:

  • What offer would they be interested in?
  • What value have you already sent them?
  • When was your last conversation?

I know, it’s difficult and weird at first, because selling can feel daunting and scary. But it will be worth it, I promise.

When contacting your leads, ask them questions and show genuine interest

Don’t just offer your services and sell, but make it personal. Result: interesting conversations. 

And aside from the fact your leads would potentially buy from you, it is lovely to hear how they are running their business.

It’s a win-win situation because you both learn something!
